Community Conversations: Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan talks to Belfast Jewish Heritage

Steven Jaffe, Director, Belfast Jewish History Project, and collection donor Amanda Jackson tell Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan about the work of the project. Amanda explains why she engaged with the project and what gave her confidence to contribute family records. Steven outlines how he worked with the Jewish Community in Belfast to make the project a success.

As part of the work of the Diversity Allies, Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan has undertaken online interviews to explore the experiences of people from different backgrounds in their engagement with the archive sector from a variety of perspectives. She talks to the archivist Steven Jaffe and a donor about the Belfast Jewish Heritage project and approaches to collecting from a specific community. In the other interview we hear from Makiya Davis-Bramble about her time working as in archives as a person of colour. There’s some real insight into how it feels to be in such a situation and some candid advice about how to make people feel welcome.
