As a professional comms person I know that most record keepers are modestly just getting on with things and the thought of blowing their own (or their service’s) trumpet fills them with dread. In this webinar I’ll give you some tips on how to do this in a way that isn’t cringy but will still help the wider world to understand what it is you do and why it is important. It matters, because if people don’t understand it, they won’t fund it – this isn’t about making yourself look important but about protecting jobs and protecting records.

Speaker
Deborah Mason is Head of Communications for the Archives and Records Association. Her previous roles in communications have included: Magic Me (Comms Manager for this intergenerational arts charity), Knit for Peace and the Good Gifts Catalogue (freelance comm support at the Charities Advisory Trust), The British Association of Dermatologists (Communications and Public Affairs), Wellbeing of Women (Head of Communications and Community Fundraising at this women’s reproductive and gynaecological research charity). Before that she worked as an artist, actress and director which also included giving workshops on ‘presentation skills for the terrified’ (and a LOT of temping).
