Secretary – ARA Environmental Sustainability Group
The Archives and Records Association’s Environmental Group is seeking a new Secretary to support the work of the committee and help deliver the group’s activities. This is a voluntary role, offering an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and contribute to climate action within the archives, records management, and conservation professions.
Key responsibilities include:
Arranging quarterly committee meetings and Research Officer meetings. Taking minutes and circulating them after meetings.
Supporting the Chair in preparing meeting agendas.
Managing the group’s inbox, by responding to or forwarding emails to the relevant committee members as appropriate.
Assisting with the organisation and delivery of group events, such as online training sessions and talks.
Supporting the Chair in the financial and strategic management of the group, authorising and processing expenses.
Assisting the Chair in sharing communications about the group’s activities on social media and liaising with the ARA to promote events, opportunities, and vacancies.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and communicative, with an interest in environmental issues in the heritage sector. You must be a member of ARA. This is a great opportunity to develop skills in organisation, teamwork and communication. Experience taking minutes, coordinating meetings, or supporting committee work would be advantageous, but enthusiasm and willingness to get involved are most important.
Time commitment:
The role involves attendance at quarterly online committee meetings and occasional additional time to support events and communication tasks.
If you’re passionate about sustainability and want to help the archives and records sector, make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
