Honorary Secretary
Overview
The main role of the Honorary Secretary of ARA Ireland is to monitor emails to the committee, answer queries received (with assistance of other committee members), circulate job advertisements to ARA Ireland membership, and liaise with short list of representatives of sister organisations ahead of ARA Ireland committee meetings, to share updates.
Main responsibilities:
To schedule at least three committee meetings over the year, prepare and distribute agendas, review and circulate minutes, and circulate papers.
Maintain an up-to-date regional membership list.
Help with writing/distributing reports as and when required.
Call for updates from specialist interest groups.
Organise the regional AGM.
Maintain ARA Ireland email accounts and deal with correspondence.
Circulate events/opportunities to members.
Training Officer (Joint role, 1 vacancy)
Overview
ARA Ireland organises a year-round program of specialist training sessions for its members. ARA Ireland members include those working in archives, conservation, and records management roles as well as students and volunteers. Training events are designed to meet the needs of all members.
The two ARA Ireland Training Officers are responsible for all aspects of planning, organising, and hosting ARA Ireland training events. This work involves researching latest trends and training needs, reaching out to possible speakers for events, and agreeing the agenda and order of events.
The Training Officers organise approximately four events a year, although some of these may be multi-day or multi-speaker events meaning the total number of events in a year will vary.
Main responsibilities:
To organise and host ARA Ireland training events
To attend and participate in ARA Ireland committee meetings (usually 3/4 per year via MS Teams, and AGM in person)
To maintain good communications with other officers within the region and to contribute to activities organised within the region and beyond

Length of Term and Conditions
Committee Officers would ordinarily serve a term of at least one year with ARA Ireland, with the norm being a 3 year term.
The role is voluntary.
