ARA Section for Archives and Technology: Annual Review Meeting

‍The meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st July between 11:30am - 1:00pm (BST) via Teams. The event will be recorded for minute-taking purposes.

‍We will be starting with talks on digital projects by Jen Grasso from the University of Brighton Design Archives and Rowan Rush-Morgan from Queer Heritage South. We will then move to the formal part of the meeting, presenting an annual report and financial statement for the year and confirming officers for the coming period.

About the speakers:

Jen Grasso is the Digital Content Systems Co-Ordinator at the University of Brighton Design Archives. Her role focuses on the dissemination of the Design Archives’ collections as well as digital preservation. Her research is informed by archival and artistic practices and engages with topics such as the intersection between analogue and digital technologies, the use of technology to increase access to culture and heritage, community archives, oral histories, as well as fringe photographic media, in particular photobooth photography.

Rowan Rush-Morgan (he/him) is the Community Archivist at Queer Heritage South, a digital heritage learning project which celebrates, preserves, and shares LGBTQIA+ history in Brighton & Hove. His role involves managing the Queer Heritage South digital archive and supporting community engagement. Rowan will discuss how and why the Queer Heritage South archive was developed, alongside the benefits and challenges of collecting LGBTQIA+ history digitally, focussing on the lifecycle of born-digital LGBTQIA+ materials.
