ARA Ireland are looking for a Secretary, Treasurer and Campaign Officer

The committee has three vacancies available from the 30th of April 2026 – Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Campaigns Officer. The ARA Ireland Committee is made up of members from across Ireland and from a variety of different organisations. The aim is to get a broad range of experience and contributions from across the sector to help us represent members and contribute to the progression of the sector. We would welcome anyone who is interested in the roles to contact us. There will be a handover for each role from the previous officer and committee members are more than happy to chat if you have any questions.

Honorary Secretary (currently vacant)

The main role of the Honorary Secretary of ARA Ireland is to monitor emails to the committee, answer queries received (with assistance of other committee members), circulate job advertisements to ARA Ireland membership, and liaise with a short list of representatives of sister organisations ahead of ARA Ireland committee meetings, to share updates.

Honorary Treasurer

The main role of the Honorary Treasurer of ARA Ireland is to manage all aspects of the region’s budget and financial control in conjunction with the Chair.

Campaigns Officer

The main role of the Campaigns Officer of ARA Ireland is to promote ARA Ireland, its members and our profession through numerous online and in-person campaigns including the year-long Explore Your Archive campaign, the annual Archives Diaspora campaign, the annual Seachtain na Gaeilge campaign and others.

A full description of each of the committee roles is available on the ARA Ireland website.

Committee work is very rewarding and I would encourage members to get involved. Taking on a committee role is a great way to contribute to sector development whilst enhancing your professional portfolio and widening your networks.
