LGBT+ History Month: Join Community Archives and Heritage Group's online seminar

LGBTFebruary marks LGBT+ History month in the UK and is an ideal opportunity for those working with LGBT+ narratives and heritage to share and celebrate the work that is taking place. The theme for this year is 'Mind, Body and Spirit' and, as always, the month provides an opportunity for LGBT+ groups to claim their past, celebrate their present and create their future.

The ARA's Community Archives and Heritage Group (CAHG) is all too aware that much of this work takes place at a grassroots level, with communities of identity coming together to explore histories that have previously been excluded from records – often due to stigma and prejudice. Therefore, to highlight the latest work taking place in our sector, CAHG will be hosting a free online seminar at 6pm on 1st February 2021.

This session will provide a platform for this exciting area of work to be discussed and explored, including some of the methodologies that are being used to challenge what can become part of the archive. We'll also discuss the language and terminology that is useful and empowering in describing LGBT+ lives and heritage.
