Message from the ARA Chair, Karl Magee
This is an update on the recent ARA Board videoconference and the decisionsthat were made during this meeting.
Update from Chair of the Archives and Records Association
The Board of the Archives and Records Association met by videoconference on Wednesday 22 April. The following decisions were made by the Board concerning the association’s activities during the continued coronavirus restrictions:
- The suspension of all face-to-face ARA activities and events to be extended until the end of July 2020
- The AGM of the Archives and Records Association to be held online (date and time tbc)
- Guidance to be provided for ARA groups re holding of annual meetings and election of committee members
- An additional special meeting of the Board of the Archives and Records Association will be held in May to review activities; confirm arrangements re the AGM and 2020 ARA conference; and monitor the impact of the lockdown on the ARA budget
The annual grant from The National Archives, to support the ARA’s work across the record-keeping sector, was also confirmed at the meeting. The 2020-2021 grant will allow us to continue to support the Community Archives and Heritage Group, implement our volunteering action plan and address issues of diversity and inclusion across the record-keeping sector. Additional funding was provided to support work directly addressing the impact of coronavirus on the sector – further details of this work will be provided in the coming weeks.
