ARA Diversity tenders

Revisiting collections – looking again at collections content, collections management including cataloguing and interpretation, collecting and acquisitions policies, outreach, prioritisation and all related matters. For many years this work has been done in a heteronormative, non-diverse and largely patriarchal environment and record-keepers face a huge challenge to address these legacy issues and to understand how they can make changes for the future. We want to give recordkeepers the skills and inspiration to help them revisit collecting and collections in their own workplaces. We also want to make people aware of their own privilege and of issues that may be faced by non-users to create better relationships and more inclusive services. The ARA’s Archives for Learning and Education Committee (ALES) recently reviewed their list of online learning resources. This process identified a lack of content aimed at SEND learners, despite disabled people being identified as the world’s largest minority group. Based upon their combined professional experience, the Committee agreed that this was in part due to limited guidance for professionals responsible for designing archive resources and activities for SEND learners. The Committee are seeking a consultant to produce a professional ‘toolkit’ that focuses on how to effectively engage SEND learners with archival material. To view the full tender follow this link
