    Q&A Panel Session

ARA’s Section for Preservation and Conservation are pleased to announce our first online series of talks on the subject of parchment and stationery bindings. These have taken place over recent weeks and will conclude with a Q&A session with our speakers.

    You have already heard from…

Ann-Marie Miller of Codex Conservation presented Make, Mend & Do…The Conservation of 4 Eighteenth-Century Parchment Stationery Bindings on 12th August.

Victoria Stevens ACR of Library and Archive Conservation and Preservation Ltd. presented Dispatches from Fleet Street: Conserving the Perkins Bacon Delivery Books on 19th August.

Katherine Beaty of Harvard Library's Weissman Preservation Center presented Tacketed Stationery Bindings of the Harvard Business School Medici Collection and their Conservation on 26th August.

We are now taking bookings for the interactive Q&A session discussing these presentations and the wider topic of parchment and stationery bindings with our speakers. This is your opportunity to put any burning questions you may have to our panel of illustrious speakers! We will be exploring different aspects of these bindings and their conservation, including their historical context, repair methods, adhesives and useful resources.

This will take place on Friday 4th September 16:00-17:00 BST over Zoom.

For anyone wishing to catch up on the previous talks, they are now available to view on the ARA website here.

Our aim is to create a friendly and relaxed environment for an open and informal discussion on the subject, so we will not be publishing the recording of the session on the ARA website. We will however produce an FAQ document summarising the content which will be made available alongside the videos.
