Archive Conservation Training Scheme

If you are committed to a career in archive conservation the Archives and Records Association offers the training and resources you need to enter the well respected Archive Conservation Training Scheme.

Course modules cover the conservation of books, maps, paper, seals and parchment and teaching is focused on the development of practical skills. There is an introductory week to the course which covers many of the theoretical aspects of both interventive and preventive conservation and participants will need to spend a total of 24 weeks on placements to complete the course.

Please note: We are currently not taking on any new trainees due to our instructor capacity being full.

Who is it for?

Anyone currently working within a fully equipped conservation studio can participate in this course.

Due to the modular nature of the course, it is possible for existing professionals to sign up to all or part of the course depending on their need to update their techniques in a certain field or to gain a refresh in a particular specialised area.
