Nicole Hartland

Nicole Hartland is Senior Archivist (Digital) at UK Parliament, currently covering as Head of Collections Development & Access. She joined the ARA Board in 2026 and has been involved in various ARA sections in training, communications and treasurer roles since 2020. She is a qualified archivist and Registered Member of the Archives and Records Association (RMARA).

Nicole is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Dundee, where she leads the Digital Archiving module and supervises dissertations on digital archiving, archives and technology, and critical information studies. She is also an End Point Assessor for the CILIP Pathways Level 3 and Level 7 Library, Information and Archive Services apprenticeships, and a member of the Digital Preservation Coalition’s Good Practice Sub-Committee.

Nicole is particularly interested in digital preservation, equitable access to archives, and developing the skills and knowledge of the archives profession. She is keen to bring her experience in digital archiving and professional development to the ARA Board, and to support a profession that is confident, inclusive and equipped to meet the challenges of a changing information landscape.
