ARA COVID-19 News and Policies

Here you will find an overview of the ARA’s response to COVID-19 and outlines the steps we have taken to ensure that we adhere to the latest government guidance during this pandemic.

The Archives and Records Association is the leading professional body for archivists, records managers and archive conservators, representing over 2,400 members across the UK and Ireland.

The ARA Office in Taunton has reopened and our office team are contactable during the normal working hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

If members have any questions about our Professional Development Programme, or require extensions to deadlines for submission of registration portfolios, please contact our Head of Professional Standards and Development at This email address is being protected from spambots. All face to face ARA events have been suspended until the end of 2020. This will be reviewed as governmental advice changes. Online training and meetings are now being arranged in place of face to face meetings. Details of these will be advertised as soon as they become available.

With the 2020 Conference cancelled, we intend to hold the conference as advertised and with the same programme, subject to speaker availability, in 2021.

The Archives and Records Association sends it best wishes to all of our members during these challenging times.

Karl Magee, Chair, Archives and Records Association.
