Consultancy Brief – North West: Research on use of archives and records within court
ARA North West wish to undertake research on the use of archives and records within court. The purpose of this research would be to
- To determine what current practice there is in the use of records in court
- To determine guidance there needs to be for the use of records in court
ARA North West Skills Audit
In March 2018 the North West Region of the Archives and Records Association commissioned an audit of the skills of those working in archives, records and information management and conservation in the region in order to assist in the strategic planning of future training. Below is the final report.
ARA North West – Text Writing Workshop and drinks reception in Liverpool

Text Writing Workshop 1pm-4.30pm
Dispel your fears and find your writing flair with this fun and practical text writing workshop. Imaginative and inspiring exercises will help you get to the heart of your story and convey your key messages in clear, simple and accessible language. We will also look at structure and editing, tone of voice and vocabulary, and how to find the right approach for your audience.
Deborah Mulhearn is a writer, editor and journalist with many years' experience writing about arts and heritage. She writes interpretative text, trails and scripts for museums and heritage organisations, most recently for the National Waterways Museum, the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society and the Norris Museum. She writes regularly for Museums Journal, Big Issue North, the Heritage Lottery Fund and many other publications. She has contributed to books, exhibitions and creative writing projects and is the editor of Mersey Minis, an anthology of writing about Liverpool through the ages.
The training will be followed by an Archives and Records Association North West meeting from 4.30pm-5pm and a drinks reception for new archive postgraduate students from 5pm-7pm.
