About meI have a keen interest in palaeography and book conservation and am currently applying to undertake an MA which is focussed on manuscript handling, dating and analysis. I developed an interest in historic texts and print whilst at university and was privileged to have an opportunity to handle a rare manuscript at The British Library for my dissertation research. For my research dissertation I examined two fifteenth century morality poems; John Lydgate’s ‘The Daunce Macabre’ and an anonymous poem titled ‘A Disputacione Betwyx the Body and the Wormes’ from the London, British Library Add. MS 37049. I was interested in how the presentation of the poems in their manuscript contexts worked conjunction with the textual contents to inspire affective performances from readers. Examining the palaeography and collation of the manuscript was an edifying experience which inspired the decision to further my skills and knowledge of historic texts and prints at a Masters level, with the aim of forging a career within manuscript studies.
