Chair

Alexandra Mitchell, Peel Group Archives 

Alexandra is the Archivist for the Peel Group, an infrastructure, transport and real estate investment company based in the United Kingdom. Alexandra joined Peel in August 2013 to establish, manage and promote the Peel Archives and to carry out historical research. Alexandra graduated from the University of Manchester in 2012 with a PhD in History and in 2015 completed a Diploma in Archives and Records Management from the University of Dundee. Before joining Peel, Alexandra worked as Project Officer at the University of Salford Archives and Special Collections (2012-2013). Alexandra’s conference paper, ‘How do we measure success? Reflections on a business archive in its infancy’, was published in F. Pino (ed.), Creating the Best Business Archive: Achieving a good Return on Investment (Milan, 2017).

Secretary

Stephanie Alder, Manchester City Football Group

Steph qualified as an Archivist (University of Liverpool) in 2004 and since then has worked at the Imperial War Museum, documenting Second World War Army archives, managed the Central Archive of the British Museum and was the Heritage Collections Manager at Brent Council. Steph is now responsible for establishing a corporate archive and object collection for Manchester City Football Club having joined them in 2015.          

Treasurer

Kathryn Preston, G. L. Watson

Kathryn is the company archivist at G.L. Watson & Co., where she is responsible for the management, preservation and curation of the company’s extensive design and business archive. She also regularly undertakes historical research for clients as well as consulting on matters relating to yachting archives and collections care. She has a keen interest in design history, business archives and heritage brands. 

Communications Officer

Holly Waughman

After graduating with an MA in History from the University of Manchester, Holly started working in a business archive as an Archive Assistant in September 2015. In September 2016 Holly started studying part time on the MA in Archives and Records Management course at University College London, which she has recently completed in September 2018. During this time, she continued to work part time as an Archive Assistant. Holly joined the Section for Business Records as the Communications Officer in 2016.

Social Media Officer

Jill Moretto, GlaxoSmithKline

Jill is the Heritage Archivist for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). She performs the full range of archival duties for the company, from accessioning, cataloguing and arranging to researching queries, holding outreach events and digitising photos to be used on our corporate social media. Training Officer

Chris Cassells, Business Archives Surveying Officer for Scotland 

Chris Cassells is the Business Archives Surveying Officer for Scotland. A graduate of the University of Glasgow, Chris qualified as an archivist in 2011 before working on a number of cataloguing projects, including the Janey Buchan Political Song Collection at the University of Glasgow and the Spirit of Revolt project at Glasgow City Archives. From 2012 Chris was the Archivist for West Dunbartonshire Council and left to take up the post of Surveying Officer in June 2018. As Surveying Officer, Chris provides specialist advice and guidance on the management of business archives to Scottish industry, archive professionals and public bodies, helping organisations both safeguard and realise the value of their documentary heritage.

Officer for Crisis Management

Karyn Williamson, Standard Life Aberdeen plc

Karyn graduated with a master’s degree in Archives and Records Management from the University of Dundee in 2013. She has worked in various Archives across Scotland including the University of Glasgow, National Records of Scotland, Blair Castle and the University of Edinburgh. She is currently the Company Archivist for Standard Life Aberdeen. Karyn is also the Chair of ARA Scotland, Events coordinator for the Business Archive Council and a registered archivist. Her research interests are outreach and education in the Archive profession. 

Officer for Football Archives Project

Rachael Muir

Rachael was a graduate trainee in 2011-12 at the University of Glasgow Archives where she split her time between the university archives and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board Archive. Following her traineeship, Rachael went on to achieve her Masters in Archives and Records Management at University College London. Since qualifying, Rachael has been working for a business archive in London, where she is currently working on the cataloguing and promotion of a large historic photograph collection. Additionally, Rachael is currently Programme Co-ordinator for the Archive and Records Association Conference until 2020, as well as being an active member of the ARA’s Section for Business Records where she is currently working on a new football club archive pilot.
