What we do
The Society of Archivists, National Council on Archives and ACALG were merged to create the Archives and Records Association for one key reason; to create a bigger voice for the archives and records sector.
The ARA is engaged in a whole host of awareness building, training and campaigning events and activities and actively supports professional research projects across the sector.
We offer an active programme of training and development opportunities for archivists, record managers and conservators at all points of their career. We also provide a series of touring workshops and courses covering specific archive and record keeping skills, the most recent including a seminar tour on digital preservation and preservation for archive and information professionals.
Our annual conference focuses on key current themes and draws a wide cross section from the recordkeeping community as well as influential figures and spokespersons. The ARA Conference 2016 will take place at the Hilton Wembley London between Wednesday 31st August to Friday 2nd September 2016.
Our advocacy team actively identifies and influences key political issues across the UK and Ireland via the All Party Group on Archives and History in the UK and through other active campaigns.
