Workshops on Preservation for Archivists and Information Professionals

The Society of Archivists is pleased to announce 4 workshops on preservation. Led by experts from the field of preservation and conservation policy and practice, the workshops will cover:
 
  • Preservation policies and surveys with Antony Oliver ,Sheffield Archives
  • Storage conditions, handling and searchroom practices with Rebecca Donan , Dorset Record Office
  • Disaster Planning with Emma Dadson, Harwell Document Restoration Services
  • Practical sessions in the conservation studio on what conservators can achieve and what archivists can do
  • Workshops on tackling preservation problems in mixed collections
Please note the first workshop takes place in London on 12 February so book now to secure a place!
 
The workshops (all covering the same topics) will take place at the following locations:
  • Wellcome Institute London, 12 February 2010
  • Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Belfast, 16 April 2010
  • Wolverhampton Archives and Local Studies, Wolverhampton, 14 June 2010
  • Mitchell Library, Glasgow, 15 October 2010
These training sessions have been subsidised by the Society so that members can keep up to date with core skills.
 
The costs for members:  £45
             non-members:  £65
 
One bursary per venue of £40 is available towards costs.
