Standing Committees and Working Parties

Standing Committees and Working Parties answer directly to the Council and enjoy equal status in the management structure.

Standing Committees are permanent bodies of the Society. They manage and execute particular areas of Society policy as directed by the Council. Standing Committees each have their own Chairman and Secretary, and meet regularly. More information on Standing Committees including minutes of meetings can be found in the Committees pages.

Working Parties are appointed by the Council or Standing Committees to tackle specific problems or perform particular tasks. When a Working Party completes its task, it is usually dissolved. Working Parties do not need to keep minutes but submit reports when required.

The rules and regulations governing the operations of Standing Committees and Working Parties are outlined in Articles 69-71 of the Society’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
