The Film and Sound Group was established in 1994 to exchange views and information on film and sound archives and to encourage good practice among those concerned with their acquisition, preservation and arrangement.  In 2005, the group voted to extend its remit to include photographs as a response to requests for specialist advice regarding photographic media.

Aims & Objectives

The Film, Sound and Photography Group is committed to:

  • Providing practical advice to archivists and curators of collections.
  • Providing useful resources and literature.
  • Nourishing strong links with outside groups with similar interests.
  • Promoting best practice for the archiving, preservation and conservation of film, sound and photographic materials.
  • Encouraging education and research in this field.

If you have a general enquiry or require specialist advice relating to film, sound or photographic archives then you can contact the group at: fspg@archives.org.uk
