Data Standards GroupData Standards Group Welcome to the web pages of the Data Standards Group, which is primarily involved with the use and development of standards and protocols for description, discovery and interoperability of archival information (including EAD). We are also concerned with data standards in the related areas of digitisation and digital preservation as well as the accessibility and usability of online archival information systems. Within these areas: · We aim to keep abreast of developments;· We provide a forum for discussion and support; · We strive to promote best practice; · We plan, organise and provide training in liaison with the Society’s Vocational and Professional Development Officer; · We encourage and facilitate curriculum development in the archival training schools; · We represent the Society of Archivists in international discussions and decisions; · We promote and co-ordinate UK and Irish archival contributions to international developments; · We endeavour to ensure mutual compatibility across different sectors of the archival community in the implementation of standards; · We establish co-operative links with others in related fields, especially colleagues in the cultural heritage domain.
