Special Interest Groups

Membership of a Specialist Interest Group is a matter of choice. Members may join one Group free of charge, and there is a small additional charge for membership of more than one Group. Each Group has its own articles of administration, elected officers and executive committee. There are currently seven Groups:

Archives for Education and Learning Group (AfELG)
established in 1992, for members interested in the use of archives in education.

Business Records Group (BRG)
established in 2000, for members involved in, or concerned with business records.

Data Standards Group (DSG)
established in 2000, for members interested in the issues surrounding the exchange of data.

Film, Sound and Photography Group (FSPG)
established in 1994, for members interested in film and sound archives.

Preservation and Conservation Group (PCG)
established in 1970, for conservators and others interested in the issues surrounding archive conservation.

Records Management Group (RMG)
established in 1978, for members involved in, or concerned with records management.

Specialist Repositories Group (SRG)
formally instituted in 1982, which provides a forum for members working outside the network of national and local authority record offices.
