Information Marketplace 2008

Over the past years the Information Marketplace has firmly established itself as a popular and important part of the Conference with delegates and exhibitors alike. This year's event will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 27 August.
 
Special Interest Group presentations will take place throughout the afternoon. All delegates are welcome to join any of the presentations and a warm invitation is also extended to visitors on the day.
 
Other than the one-to-one sessions with the NCA Archive Lottery Adviser, there is no need to pre-register for any of these sessions.

TNA and MLA have been working over the year to bring forward a new Government Policy on archives, which carries Government endorsement and provides a framework for strategies and work across the archives and records management sector. This is your chance to contribute to the development of this key document and put questions to the TNA and MLA teams responsible for its development.

Presentation and questions about another of SRG''s affiliate groups, Historic Houses Archivists Group (HHAG), and a session for you to have your say about what you want from SRG.
 
Speakers: Elizabeth Lomas (HHAG), an experienced Records Manager now undertaking academic research - "Guide to the Retention of Modern Records on Landed Estates". Talking about the second edition of this guide, published last year, which she revised and extended.
 
Andrew Nicoll, Scottish Catholic Archive, and Adrian Glew, Tate (SRG) - "What can the Specialist Repositories Group do for you?" An interactive session allowing you to express your ideas and thoughts about what SRG can do for its members.

Training Curators to be Archivists: the experience of the Archives in Museums Specialist Subject network
Presented by the Archives in Museums Subject Specialist Network
Speaker: Heather Romaine, Archives Project Officer, National Motor Museum Trust
 
Established in 2006, this network has run a series of training sessions across the country, attempting to equip musuem staff and volunteers with some of the basic skills needed to look after their vast archive collections. Coem and find out about theier experiences and what was learned from this project.

It could be you! - Lottery Surgery
Presented by The National Council on Archives

Speaker: Louise Ray, Archive Lottery Adviser
An opportunity to hear about the recent changes to the Heritage Lottery Fund and its programmes, with an opportunity to discuss the potential for archive applications. 
 
The second half of the session will be divided into individual 5-minute surgeries to allow delegates to discuss potential applications with the Archive Lottery Adviser (Please note surgery appointments must be booked in advance by emailing louise.ray@nationalarchives.gov.uk).
