Archive Sector Proposals

Earlier this year the Society and other organisations working within the sector commissioned the consultancy firm of Firetail to undertake a review of the groups operating within the archive sector.

The review has now been completed and presented to Council for further discussion of the proposals. Members can download all the relevant documents by using the links below.

The Communications group agreed to circulate a briefing at the end of each cycle of meetings, summarising discussions so far. These briefings can be downloaded from the list below.

    The final cycle of meetings to discuss a proposed merger has now concluded. Many members, groups, regions and organisations have given feedback on the proposal.

    A critical milestone has now been passed in the process initiated in 2008 to merge three separate organisations into a single body to create a strong inclusive voice for the sector.

    The Memorandum of Understanding document has been signed by the three organisations. Its framework is informing the next steps of the process, and we are now at the stage where discussions may lead to a formal merger proposal.

    The second cycle of meetings to discuss the proposed merger has now been completed. The Groups are now discussing in more detail the structure and operation of the potential new body.
