I did the course last year. We were able to mix and match by choosing two courses out of four. Those four comprised two which were traditionally thought of as part of the Digital strand and two which were part of the ARM strand. I chose one from each strand and did 2D Digitisation and Records Management and the Digital.

I am happy to discuss the different courses with you. Is there a PM facility on this new website? If not, I am the only Jane Mycock on Facebook so I am easy to find there! I still work in Glasgow and maintain close links with Glasgow University so if you ever want to meet to discuss options I am often in the area. I am friends with one of your classmates this year and we have met to discuss the course.

I have also written a brief review of the course in the Section for New Professionals newsletter which should be out in October, but I was limited to 300 words so couldn't go into the strands in depth.

I did the Glasgow course a couple of years ago now - we had to choose between the digital strand and the more traditional archives and records management theory strand, but I thought that now people could choose one course from each strand if they wished eg. Document Encoding and Archive Theory. I did the digital strand, and am happy to let you know my impressions of it if it will help.

I have just started the University of Glasgow MSc in Information Management and Preservation to qualify as an Archivist. As part of the programme we decide whether we would like to go into the digitisation strand or preservation. I was wondering what people's views were on the topic and if they had any advice.
