Registration SchemeIntroduction Since 1987 the Association has maintained a Register of members who possess both professional competence and experience, and have demonstrated commitment to CPD. The only route for members with a professional qualification to become Registered is now through the Registration Scheme, which has been operating since 1996. See our leaflet 'Employing Archive Professionals', including a section on the Registration Scheme. Download a copy from this page (pdf format). The Registration Scheme is administered by the Registration Sub-Committee of the Association. The chair of the committee is the Registrar, who currently is Sarah Wickham. Her contact details are included in the Registration Scheme FAQ's. Information is also available about the Registration Scheme network run by candidates currently on the scheme - see the link on the left. Registration Scheme enrolment application forms can be found in the Guidance Notes Part 6, please follow the link on the left. Registration Scheme Seeks Assessors Professional development - networking and supporting colleagues across the professions - standards and competencies - are at the heart of the Association’s approach to CPD. The Registration sub-committee now seeks additional Registration Assessors to contribute to the work of our team on behalf of all the Association’s members. You will be a registered member of the Association, ideally who has completed the Registration Scheme yourself and/or be a mentor to a candidate on the Scheme. You will be actively maintaining your own development, and will have a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience. As an Assessor you will assess between 1 and 3 portfolios in up to two assessment rounds each year. Full training is provided and any expenses (e.g. postage) are reimbursed by the Association. Current Assessors say "Being an Assessor is enjoyable"; "I find seeing all the great activities people submit in their portfolios inspiring"; "I like being able to support other people to become registered archivists and records managers"; "Assessing has helped me be a better mentor on the Scheme". To find out more - without obligation - please contact Nicky Sugar, the Assessors' Representative via e-mail:regschemeadmin@archives.org.uk. To apply, please e-mail a short statement of how you meet the criteria to Sarah Wickham, the Registrar, at: registrar@archives.org.uk. Last modified 28/06/2010
