Explore Your Archive 2014 has begun. All over the UK and Ireland hundreds of archives are opening their doors and telling their stories.
BBC Breakfast on 10 November covered the campaign, with outside broadcasts from The Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists with Stephen 'Call the Midwife' McGann and archivist Penny Hutchins and with Jessamy Carlson of The National Archives on the sofa talking family and military history.
The sector's first Twitter Thunderclap reached over three quarters of a million in 'social reach': the message read was:
‘A world without archives is a world without memory. #explorearchives to learn, be inspired and to understand’.
