Membership review begins

Work has begun on the ARA’s review of its membership structure.

More than two years after the merger which formed the ARA, the Board agreed earlier in 2012 that the time was right for an in-depth look at all aspects of the membership structure and offer. It is intended that a review will be completed by February 2013 so that any changes in membership can be brought in for the 2013/2014 membership year.

sharon hedges SH Communications – led by Sharon Hedges - was chosen to undertake the work after a tender process.

Sharon has worked with the ARA before and says: ‘The membership review project is a real opportunity for the ARA to listen to its members and build an understanding of the breadth and needs of the membership community.  The project builds on our prior work with the ARA which saw the creation and rollout of the marketing strategy, new brand and website, by going on to assess and address the benefits of membership and supporting members throughout their career lifecycle.  We will also be looking at ways to engage with and encourage archive users.

‘We are really keen to find out what the membership is concerned about and interested in, what they want and need from their professional body and how the nations, regions and sections can better support them; we look forward to engaging with the membership over the coming months.’
