What a wonderful conference
I think the event was a resounding success and I had a great time networkingwith friends, old and new alike! What a wonderful conference - manymany congratulations!
The delegates seem to be unanimous about the ARA’s annual conference, held in Brighton from 29 to 31 August. The Conference brought together more than 50 speakers presenting on side-by-side ‘Archives and Records’ and ‘Conservation’ themes. More than 170 full time delegates, including more bursary winners than ever before, from the UK and overseas, listened and thoroughly engaged with issues as varied as Wikileaks, digital preservation, how to engage using community websites, how to conserve muster rolls, how to work with staff who prefer their own computers but risk losing company history....
It was the ARA’s most technology-friendly conference to date. Many delegates used the #ara12 Twitter feed to keep the outside world in touch. Marie Owens did a more formal blog. www.archives.org.uk had a rolling page of news and pictures which Lorraine Logan led. Sarah Norman and Alex Buchanan were there as the ARC conference issue editor and Journal editor respectively to sign up the very best for their future issues.
More conference material is being added to the ARA website all the time.
