Association to send out Equality Monitoring Questionnaire
Questionnaire to be issued from August with membership renewalforms
The Association is introducing an equality monitoring questionnaire this year. It will be issued with membership renewal forms which will go out from August.
This will be the first such survey of the membership.
The results will provide benchmark data so the Association can test whether the actions it is taking to encourage diversity in the profession are successful. Sam Collenette, Board member leading the Membership (Inclusion) portfolio says: ‘I am sure most members know that charitable organisations have a duty to collect and monitor this data. The ARA will ensure that the data is stored securely and in a way that is entirely unattributable to individual members. I understand that questions about age, race, sexuality, disability and gender are highly personal and can feel intrusive. However, as information professionals we all understand the need for accurate data to provide the evidence for good decision making’.
