Membership is open to all, whether you are a student; making your firstforay into the working world of keeping records; a senior professional;record keeping organisation or an overseas resident. Find your fees andforms here.
There are a number of membership categories to choose from at the ARA. Most individual members pay a membership fee based on their income. Fees are considerably discounted for students, job seekers, people on low incomes and people living overseas.
The categories are as follows:
Individual Membership
There are four categories of individual membership:
Student Members
For any person undertaking ARA accredited archives qualification studies in full-time, part-time or distance learning.
Full Members
For archivists, archive conservators, records managers, archive education officers, archive assistants, record clerks and other staff.
Affiliate Members
Any individual can join this grade of membership provided that they are not qualified to join as full members of the Association (i.e. they are not in paid employment in an archive or records management service). Individuals elected to this grade enjoy most of the full benefits of Association membership.
Overseas
For any individuals who are permanently resident abroad.
Institutional Affiliation
Our new membership category Institutional Affiliate delivers all the benefits of individual membership to organisations alongside some new specially designed benefits.
Affiliated organisations can now enjoy discounted rates for commercial advertising in all of the Association's publications; discounted rates for exhibiting products and services at the Association Annual Conference.

- Payment can be made to the Association is by bacs, cheque or credit card, please make cheques payable to Archives and Records Association. To pay by card over the telephone please contact the Association office on 01823 327077.
