Training Day - The Practice of Public Engagement: Introduction to managing archive displays, exhibitions and loans

Archives provide the raw material of history and can tell a thousand stories. Creating displays and exhibitions and loaning archive material for display elsewhere can be an effective way of showcasing our gems; sharing those stories with a wider audience and promoting our services and expertise. But how can archivists and conservators manage the loans process and create effective displays and exhibitions and often with limited resources? This introductory course aims to provide archivists and conservators with an understanding into how to develop, interpret, plan, and organise small displays to large scale exhibitions; and how best to manage the exhibition loan process.

We are very keen to encourage conservators as well as archivists to join this training event, discuss and learn from each other’s expertise and experience
