Careers in Recordkeeping

If you are interested in a career in archives, conservation or records management, then you've come to the right place! This section provides all the information you need, including leaflets to download with help and advice to get you started.

There is also information for individuals seeking work experience placements before applying to one of the postgraduate courses in archives and records management, as well as a guide to approximate salary figures across the three professions. In addition, you can read through some real life case studies of peoples' experiences in getting into archives or working in records management.

For those interested in Archive Conservation, the Preservation and Conservation Special Interest Group of the Society has on its section of the website information on a career as an archive conservator.

You may find answers to some of your questions about a career as an archivist, records manager or archive conservator in the Frequently Asked Questions section.

Finally there is a more informal Record Keeping Careers Support Network with articles on work experience, getting onto one of the postgraduate programmes, employment prospects and many more topics. It also has a forum for you to post your questions and comments.

If you require any further information having studied these pages, please contact the Society's Careers Officer using the link below.
