Professional AssociationsAssociazione Nazionale Archivistica Italiana (ANAI) is the equivalent of the Society of Archivists. Their website is extremely useful www.anai.org They have regional groups and working parties covering topics like oral history source, ISAD(G), outsourcing, pay scales for professionals and business records. They publish a journal called “Il Mondo degli Archivi” but do not have any publication especially allocated for job opportunities. ANAI has more recently begun to appreciate the role they can play in training and offering courses and are keen to develop this side of their function. They were responsible for initiatives such as DomenicArchivio which was a series of “open house” Sundays around archives in Italy and was seen to be a success, getting the public to look behind the scenes. If you intend to work in Italy for a limited period of time it is probably not worth joining ANAI as other colleagues in Italian archives may subscribe to it and provide you with information.
