Registration Scheme network

What is the Registration Network?

The Network was set up in 1997 as a support and discussion group for Records Managers, Archivists and Conservators enrolled on the Society of Archivists' Pre-Registration Training and Development Scheme (as it was then known).

What does the Network do?

Provides feedback to the Society on the Scheme: a candidates' representative attends Registration Sub-Committee meetings. Please contact Judith Stephenson (Judith.Stephenson@libher.suffolkcc.gov.uk) if you would like them to feed anything back to the Sub-Committee.

Maintains an electronic discussion list for Registration candidates and other interested parties: to subscribe, email Judith Stephenson (Judith.Stephenson@libher.suffolkcc.gov.uk).

Further help

In addition to the 'Registration Scheme News' in the Society of Archivists Newsletter that includes advice for candidates and details of learning opportunities, support for candidates is provided through an electronic newsletter distributed twice yearly via the Registration discussion list.

The Registration Scheme Assessors produce feedback for the benefit of those planning to hand in portfolios in the future. These reports are available in hard copy or by e-mail from the Registrar and may also be downloaded from this page.

Successful candidates

Candidates successful in the most recent assessment (Spring 2008) were:

  • Howard J. Doble (Senior Archivist (Enquiries) London Metropolitan Archives)
  • Stuart P. Nicolle (Archivist, Jersey Heritage, Jersey Archive)
  • Catherine M.S. Taylor (Senior Archivist, West Yorkshire Archive Service - Wakefield)
  • Katherine M. Thomas (Equal Opportunities Adviser, CyMAL - Museums Archives & Libraries Wales)
  • I.A.Ruaraidh Wishart (Assistant Archivist, Aberdeen City Archives)

Congratulations to them all!
