MentoringTo help and support people manage their own learning in order to maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be. The Continuing Development Sub-Committee has developed a CPD Mentoring Scheme for registered members of the Society of Archivists. Unfortunately, the introduction of the Scheme has been stalled by hesitancies from the membership. The CPD Mentoring Scheme is a framework for building mentor/mentee relationships within the Society. Individuals within mentor/mentee relationships develop professionally through the transfer of experience and the opportunity to seek alternative perspectives over a fixed term relationship, and mentees are provided with career advice and enhancement. By drawing on the experiences of those with greater seniority and career experiences the CPD Mentoring Scheme will build and develop the knowledge and competency bases of the individuals and the Society of Archivists. The development of a CPD Mentoring Scheme is a Society of Archivists strategic objective. (Mentoring support is available separately to candidates on the Society’s Registration Scheme.)
